THE PREDICTION
26-year-old Julia Grabher set a career-high WTA world ranking of 61st this week after reaching her first final on tour at the Rabat Open, where she lost in three tight sets to Lucia Bronzetti. The Swiss has been steadily improving on her favoured clay over the last few tournaments and results over the likes of Jil Teichmann and Martina Trevisan suggest she can be competitive on her Roland-Garros debut. 32-year-old Arantxa Rus’ career-high WTA world ranking is also 61, set over a decade ago in 2012, but the Dutchwoman spends most of her time outside the top 100 these days. Rus qualified without dropping a set last week but she has lost each of her last 10 first round matches at major tournaments and she is far from the player who made the round of 16 here in 2012. Back Grabher to earn at least a set here as the likelier of the two to edge through but be cautious of a slow start after her exploits in Morocco.
