World number 63 Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova stunned Veronika Kudermetova at this stage of Roland-Garros back in June in an unlikely run to the round of 16. The 28-year-old reached two quarter-finals on her favoured clay in recent months but this will be her first match on a hardcourt since he Miami Masters in March and she has not won on the surface since the Monterrey Open before that.
