THE PREDICTION

Former world number four Bianca Andreescu won the US Open on her debut there in 2019 but she made her very first major appearance here as a 17-year-old two years earlier. The current world number 51 won her first match at Wimbledon last summer before losing to eventual champion Elena Rybakina in the second round and so it remains to be seen what she can do on this surface, on the biggest stage, if she can just gather some momentum. World number 109 Anna Bondar enjoyed a strong run to the third round at the Italian Open on her favoured clay in May but the Hungarian has failed to win a match since, on or off the tour. The 26-year-old is likely to be overpowered by Andreescu in this first meeting but straight sets remains a slight risk as the Canadian continues peak and trough. Back Andreescu to win in straight sets on its own or outright inside an accumulator.
