THE PREDICTION

World number seven Qinwen Zheng came back from a set down to beat qualifier Nao Hibino on Tuesday as she continues to tackle the new weight of last month’s remarkable run to the Australian Open final on her shoulders. The 21-year-old won her first two titles last season, either side of picking up Gold at the Asian Games, but her career was truly changed by finishing runner-up to Aryna Sabalenka in Melbourne and the next few months could prove a difficult balancing act between expectation and reality. World number 35 Anastasia Potapova conceded just three games to lucky loser Lucia Bronzetti to look a serious threat to Zheng, particularly as she beat the Chinese in straight sets to reach the Miami Open quarter-finals almost 12 months ago. The Russian showed the tennis world what she is capable this time last season and she is not far from bursting back into form. Three sets seem likelier than two here, with their 1-1 head-to-head record at tour level seeing a tight win apiece, to suggest backing Zheng to win at least one is the sensible way to avoid a result.

TIP: QINWEN ZHENG TO WIN A SET
