Maya Joint vs Kimberly Birrell prediction

Maya Joint reached the final of the Korea Open after her opponent Alina Korneeva had to retire at the start of the second set. Joint was leading 6-2 1-0. She also played her quarter-final match earlier that day, defeating Lanlana Tararudee 6-4 6-3. It has been a tough season for the 20-year-old following a breakthrough 2025, but she is enjoying her best run of the season and is now one match away from a third tour-level title of her career.

She faces compatriot Kimberly Birrell. The 28-year-old’s quarter-final match was disrupted due to rain, but she returned the next day to complete a comeback victory over Katie Volynets, winning 2-6 6-2 7-5. She then featured in the semi-finals just a few hours later, also winning in three sets against Anna Bondar. Birrell dropped the second set but went on to win 7-5 2-6 6-1. She created 19 break point opportunities in total.

This is the first meeting between the pair, and Birrell is seeking an elusive first title on the WTA Tour. However, Joint has recaptured some of her form from last year and will be a very tough opponent.
