World number 23 Anastasia Potapova is enjoying her best season on tour so far, adding a second WTA title at the Linz Open in February before an excellent run to the quarter-finals at the Miami Open. The 22-year-old’s unfussy, powerful game is perfect for grass but she has already impressed across all surfaces with top 10 wins on clay and hardcourts and a run to the semi-finals of the Birmingham Classic on grass last month, where she lost in three sets to eventual champion Jelena Ostapenko. 18-year-old Celine Naef qualified well last week to make her Grand Slam debut, setting a career-high WTA world ranking of 165th after her brilliant run to the quarter-finals at the Libema Open last month. The Swiss beat five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams in Rosmalen for an impressive but ultimately feasible result against the 43-year-old but a three-set victory over Caty McNally afterwards bodes well for the rest of her debut season. Back Potapova to win in straight sets here but it would not be a huge surprise to see Naef take this to three.
