THE PREDICTION

22-year-old Anastasia Potapova came into the Stuttgart Open at a career-high WTA world ranking of 24th this week as she continues to enjoy the form of her career. The Russian came back from a set down to beat Caroline Garcia on Friday to back-up an excellent straight-sets result over Coco Gauff in the round of 16 but she will have to improve even on those performances to reach the final. World number two Aryna Sabalenka has beaten two of the best clay-courters on tour so far this week in Barbora Krejcikova and Paula Badosa as she aims to reach the Stuttgart Open final for a second year running. The 24-year-old finished runner-up to Iga Swiatek here last season but she is in much better form this time around after claiming her first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January. The indoor conditions this week have suited Potapova but they better-suit the more powerful strokes of Sabalenka. Back the Belarussian to win outright, although two should do it.
