This could be a thrilling first encounter between world number 48 Alycia Parks and number 54 Lauren Davis, both of whom have found form this season to win WTA 250 titles. 22-year-old Parks won the Lyon Open on an indoor hardcourt back in February, displaying a serious serve that should see her thrive over the coming hardcourt swing, whilst Davis won the Hobart International at the start of the season. 29-year-old Davis has the better recent form coming into Montreal after stunning Sloane Stephens in three sets at the Washington Open last week but Parks has qualified well this weekend to bring some momentum of her own. If the younger American serves to her potential this match should be out of Davis’ hands but back Davis to earn at least a set with some battle in her legs.
