22-year-old Alycia Parks set a career-high WTA world ranking of 43rd earlier this month after claiming her maiden WTA title at the Lyon Open with a remarkable upset over Caroline Garcia in February. The American has also enjoyed a few solid runs on clay over the past few months but her powerful serve and vast wingspan should see her become a significant threat on grass sooner rather than later. World number 87 Anna-Lena Friedsam reached the third round here back in 2016 and after a few years in the wilderness she has fought hard this season to drag herself back up the rankings. Parks leads the German 1-0 at tour level but this is a tough match to call with confidence on her Wimbledon debut.
