World number 65 Alize Cornet overcame fellow tour veteran Kaia Kanepi in three sets on Thursday to look a real contender at the Prague Open. The 33-year-old similarly impressed at the Lausanne Ladies Open last week before a fairly lacklustre performance against Diane Parry at this stage but she should fare better against world number 99 Tamara Korpatsch, who played just four games on Thursday before her opponent was forced to retire injured. 28-year-old Korpatsch is yet to drop a set this week from qualifying through to the quarter-finals but she looked set to struggle against Yanina Wickmayer before the Belgian was unable to compete. Cornet is one of the more frustrating, erratic performers on tour but she beat Korpatsch in straight sets on clay, in Lausanne, four years ago and she can be backed to come through outright here.
