The American recently reached the quarter-finals of the Strasbourg Open for a tour milestone but she will have to grab one of the best results of her career here against former world number 11 Alize Cornet to match that. 33-year-old Cornet is currently ranked 74th in the world but she is capable of tennis much better than that when switched on, as she was in Nottingham two weeks ago when she stunned Maria Sakkari en-route to the semi-finals. The Frenchwoman blows hot and cold more than most these days but a straight-sets victory over Martina Trevisan on Sunday suggests she has enough to come through the outright winner here.
