The 29-year-old set a career-high WTA world ranking of 29th this time last season after finding plenty of joy on hardcourts the previous 12 months but it is hard to back her with any confidence in 2023. World number 47 Arantxa Rus recently won her first ever WTA tour title at the Hamburg Open, built on the back of some insatiable form on the Challenger circuit, and after an understandable blip since it will be fascinating to see what she can do over the next few months. The 32-year-old could have been backed to win this clash a month or so ago but on recent form take Sasnovich to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance.
