THE PREDICTION
23-year-old Yibing Wu can break the top 50 on tour for the first time, becoming the first Chinese male to do so, with one more victory at the Geneva Open after an impressive straight-sets result over Marco Cecchinato. Wu claimed his maiden ATP title at the Dallas Open back in February on a hardcourt but after a choppy start to tour life on clay he looked to improve rapidly at the Italian Open two weeks ago in a three-set win over Richard Gasquet and three-set defeat to Francisco Cerundolo. 2019 champion Alexander Zverev beat Christopher Eubanks in straight sets on Wednesday but the German has bene far from his best on clay as he continues to recuperate from a season-ending injury suffered in the semi-finals of Roland-Garros almost a year ago. The 26-year-old has needed the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev to oust him from his last two tournaments but this is no gimme against Wu, who has nothing to lose in this first encounter. The suitably cautious move is taking Zverev to earn at least a set but consider a one-off on Wu to do so instead.
