THE PREDICTION

World number six Alexander Zverev is the top seed this week in Los Cabos and so far playing like it, conceding just three games to Yoshihito Nishioka on Wednesday. The 26-year-old won his 21st ATP title at the Chengdu Open at this level last summer and he started 2024 in excellent form, leading Germany to the United Cup title before a run to the semi-finals of the Australian Open ended in five gruelling sets to Daniil Medvedev. 27-year-old Thanasi Kokkinakis knows all about heart-breaking five-setters in Melbourne but the Aussie has enjoyed an encouraging week so far in Los Cabos, upsetting back-to-back Brits in Jack Draper and Dan Evans for one of his best campaigns in recent seasons. Kokkinakis will move back inside the top 100 for his efforts but he is capable of so much more and he certainly has the power, and mentality, to cause Zverev trouble here. However, Zverev won their first encounter in straight sets at the Miami Open two years ago and his current form should see a similar result here.

TIP: ALEXANDER ZVEREV TO WIN 2-0
