27-year-old Tallon Griekspoor set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 26th this week after finishing runner-up to Dan Evans at the Washington Open. The Dutchman stunned top seed Taylor Fritz from a set down on Saturday to look the favourite in paper but he came up against an inspired Evans on Sunday, losing the match either side of a thunderstorm delay. World number 16 Alexander Zverev won his first tournament since his comeback from a serious ankle injury suffered at Roland-Garros last season with a spotless campaign at the Hamburg 500 two weeks ago. The 26-year-old brings a five-match winning streak into the Canada Masters and the 2017 champion should be considered a serious threat now with that winning feeling back. Griekspoor beat the German in three sets at the Rotterdam Open back in February but he should find a totally different version here. Take Zverev to win, particularly with Griekspoor likely still thinking about Washington.
