THE PREDICTION
27-year-old Nicolas Jarry will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 26th after producing a stunning upset over Stefanos Tsitsipas in two tight sets on Wednesday. The Chilean has won two ATP titles on his favoured clay this season from Santiago and Geneva and he looked in excellent shape at Roland-Garros before falling to eventual runner-up Casper Ruud in the round of 16 but he has plenty of weapons to excel on the faster grass too. Jarry upset former world number two Alexander Zverev en-route to the Geneva Open title this time last month to take their head-to-head record up to 2-2 but this fifth encounter should come a lot tighter with home advantage favouring the German at Halle. 26-year-old Zverev has not always seen eye-to-eye with home support but he has looked strong so far this week to give the Halle crowd something to get behind. Jarry, however, is enjoying the best season of his career so far and the Chilean’s lack of baggage could be the deciding factor here if Zverev stutters under the pressure. Leave this tight call out of an accumulator but otherwise consider taking Jarry to earn at least a set to leave the result up to chance.
