THE PREDICTION

World number six Alexander Zverev is the top seed this week in Los Cabos and playing like it so far, coasting through his first two matches to look a solid favourite in this semi-final. However, 29-year-old Jordan Thompson stunned the German in straight sets last October in Tokyo and he has maintained a steady progression in form ever since last summer, with a career-high ATP world ranking of 36th waiting for the Aussie no matter the outcome here. Thompson came back from a bagel down to beat Alex Michelsen in impressive circumstances on Thursday and he could use the crowd to his advantage here with Zverev not exactly warming Los Cabos to him with that ugly outburst at an umpire here two years ago.

Zverev remains the clear favourite but a 1-1 head-to-head with Thompson sees the Aussie with at least a set in each to suggest an upset could be on the cards. Back Zverev to find a way through all the same but you could consider a small punt on the shock result.

TIP: ALEXANDER ZVEREV TO WIN
