THE PREDICTION
This should be a well-fought and entertaining quarter-final first up on Friday between world number 73 Alex Molcan and number 78 Laslo Djere, both of whom are better players than their current rankings suggest. 27-year-old Djere boasts the best result of the two this week after upsetting third seed Borna Coric in three sets on Wednesday but Molcan has come through two three-setters over Taro Daniel and Alexei Popyrin to look ready for a fight here. The Slovak beat Djere in straight sets this time last season on clay at the Marrakech Open but Djere returned the favour at the Pune Open at the start of this season to level their head-to-head at 1-1. Given his excellent win over Coric, and the likely backing he will receive from the crowd, take Djere to earn at least a set and leave the victor up to chance. Three sets seem very likely here, though, and that could prove a suitable alternative.
