THE PREDICTION
This should be a fascinating quarter-final clash on Friday between world number five Stefanos Tsitsipas and number 19 Alex de Minaur for a number of reasons. 24-year-old Tsitsipas leads de Minaur 8-0 in their surprisingly one-sided head-to-head, which includes a straight-sets meeting here back in 2021, and after his dismal title defence in Monte-Carlo last week the Greek looks dialled-in in Barcelona with two straight-set results so far. De Minaur, also 24, received a walkover to the quarter-finals after Grigor Dimitrov pulled out of the tournament and he conceded juts one game in his opener. The Aussie has dual Spanish citizenship after spending much of his formative years here and that will grant him a likely partisan atmosphere on Friday as an underdog in some strong form. The suitably cautious move here is backing Tsitsipas to earn at least a set given his record but there is more than the scent of an upset in this likely thriller. You could consider a one-off on De Minaur to finally get the job done but perhaps this match is just best left alone.
