THE PREDICTION
World number 18 Alex de Minaur extended his excellent head-to-head record over Andy Murray to 4-0 after beating the Brit in straight sets for the second time this season with a superb performance on Tuesday. The 24-year-old won the Eastbourne International in 2021 and reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon last summer to prove his credentials on grass, a surface that totally complements his pacey and deceptively good serve well, but he had struggled to find his best tennis since earning a seventh ATP title at the Mexican Open back in February. Former world number eight Diego Schwartzman’s struggles for form stretched from the US Open last summer through to Roland-Garros last month but the Argentine’s run to the third round in Paris looks to have shaken him from his slumber. A straight-sets victory over Mackenzie McDonald on Monday was a solid way to start his Queen’s campaign but De Minaur should have too many weapons in these conditions. A first meeting between the two could provide a proper thriller if both find their best games but back De Minaur to win outright is the comfortable favourite.
