World number 46 Adrian Mannarino grabbed his second top 10 result in as many weeks with a hugely impressive straight-sets victory over world number eight Taylor Fritz on Thursday. The 34-year-old is always a test on his favoured grass, as proved by knocking out top seed Daniil Medvedev at the Libema Open last week, but he only just made it through the first round here at Queen’s after surviving an early scare against Liam Broady. World number 18 Alex de Minaur has coasted through his first two rounds at Queen’s with impressive displays over Andy Murray and Diego Schwartzman but this could be his biggest challenge yet. The Aussie leads Mannarino 3-1 in their head-to-head record after most recently beating the Frenchman in four sets at the Australian Open in January but Mannarino won their only encounter on grass at last season’s Libema Open. Each of their last two meetings have seen sets go both ways, so back De Minaur to earn at least one here to leave the victor up to chance or consider a one-off on three sets.
