World number 37 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is either underperforming on tour or flattering to deceive after coming out the wrong side of most of his intense battles in recent months. The 24-year-old is an excellent all-courter at his best, full of highlight-reel worthy shots, but his lack of concentration in the big points is concerning now where before it was part of maturing on tour. World number 43 J.J. Wolf is by far the more inexperienced 24-year-old of the two here but his steady play on tour has earned him plenty of results over the last 10 or so months. A semi-final exit to eventual champion Taylor Fritz in Atlanta and eventual runner-up Tallon Griekspoor in Washington in his last two weeks says the American can edge through this first encounter with ADF but the Spaniard’s high ceiling always makes a result dangerous to call.
