35-year-old Albert Ramos-Vinolas has been a constant threat on clay over the last few seasons but he brought a woeful 6-19 record into the Swiss Open after enduring perhaps the worst form of his career in 2023. However, three-successive three-set wins over old foe Fabio Fognini, a top player in Lorenzo Sonego and in-form Juan Pablo Varillas suggests the Spaniard is finding his mojo again on court. The current world number 79 has won four ATP titles on his favoured surface and at least one in each of the last two seasons to look the more experienced here but world number 43 Miomir Kecmanovic has finished runner-up at two tournaments already this year. The 23-year-old overcame qualifier Zizou Bergs in three sets on Friday to back-up a strong result over up-and-comer Dominic Stricker but this will be his toughest test yet. Ramos-Vinolas three battles this week may leave him a little fatigued but they also suggest taking him to earn at least a set is the most sensible way to avoid siding with either player.
