World number 88 Albert Ramos-Vinolas recently put an awful first half of 2023 behind him with a run to the Gstaad final before defeat to Pedro Cachin but the clay specialist comes into the US Open with very little expectation. The 35-year-old has never made it past the second round in New York and has yet to win a match on hardcourts this season, with an 11-22 record for 2023 suggesting he is nearing the twilight of his career.
