World number 92 Fabian Marozsan overcame former semi-finalist Richard Gasquet in five sets on Monday to claim a debut win at the US Open. The 23-year-old burst onto the scene at the Rome Masters in May when he stunned Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets en-route to the round of 16 but it remains to be seen what he can do on hardcourts as a relative unknown away from his favoured clay. World number 35 Adrian Mannarino overcame an improving Yosuke Watanuki in four sets on Monday to back-up a strong summer on tour and he is the 22nd seed in New York after an excellent run to the quarter-finals at the Cincinnati Masters. The Frenchman’s deceptive game is a tough thing to face for the first time but Marozsan’s confidence will be a driving force that needs breaking. Sets look likely to go both ways so back Mannarino to earn at least two of them to leave the victor up to chance.
