THE PREDICTION

Ninth seed Diego Schwartzman came from a set down to battle his way past Liam Broady in the second round and his game looks in good shape as he bids to make the fourth round at Wimbledon for the first time in his career. Standing in his way is Marton Fucsovics, who enjoyed an excellent win against 19th seed Jannik Sinner in the first found before his next opponent, Jiri Vesely, retired from their second-round encounter in the second set. Given that Fucsovics is also competing in both the Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles at SW19, his truncated second-round match will have been a welcome one as it has allowed him to preserve energy.

Fucsovics will be carrying plenty of confidence from the way he has played so far, and he knows that grass is not his opponent’s preferred surface. This should therefore be a close-run thing, and don’t be surprised at all to see it go the distance.
