Two-time semi-finalist Victoria Azarenka steamrolled her way past Kateryna Kozlova in the first round for the loss of just four games to book her passage to the second round and she now meets Sorana Cirstea for the first time in 12 years. Indeed, two of the pair’s three previous meetings have come on the Wimbledon grass, with Azarenka prevailing in straight sets on both occasions.
Cirstea saw off the challenge of home hope Samantha Murray Sharan in the first round but she generally doesn’t progress too far at SW19 having never advanced beyond the third round in her 11 appearances. 12th-seed Azarenka should prove too strong for the Romanian here, with a straight-sets win looking likely.
