THE PREDICTION

Zhu Lin’s third appearance in the main draw at Wimbledon sees her face off against 30-year-old German Mona Barthel, who has reached the second round on three separate occasions at SW19. Neither have made much of an impression on tour this year but Barthel has reached a much higher level in the past, having been ranked as high as 23rd in the world back in 2013. She is not playing to the same standard now but you would still expect her to have the edge over an opponent she has beaten on both occasions they have met in the past. This is unlikely to be one-sided, and Lin could well take a set as she has done on both previous meetings, but Barthel is the likelier winner.
