THE PREDICTION

2011 US Open champion Sam Stosur is making her 17th appearance at Wimbledon in what has been a largely successful career for the Australian although it has to be said that grass is not her favoured surface as she has never progressed beyond the third round at Wimbledon. The former world number four has enjoyed more success in the doubles though having been a runner-up on three occasions, and that is where she plays most of her tennis these days. She faces off against another familiar name in the form of Shelby Rogers who enters the tournament off the back of having won three matches at Eastbourne (two of those being qualifiers). Rogers has experienced plenty of injury problems over the years but she has had a clean bill of health for a while now and she should have too much for veteran Stosur here.
