Serbia Open fifth seed Filip Krajinovic is through to his first quarter-final in 2021 after backing-up a tough first round match against Stefano Travaglia with a comfortable straight-sets win over Nikola Milojevic on Wednesday. The Serb will face Matteo Berrettini for a second time in their careers in hope of revenge for their first meeting when the Italian beat him to the 2019 Budapest Open title via three sets. Since then world number 10 Matteo Berrettini has improved immensely but occasional faltering, like last week’s loss in the Monte-Carlo Masters to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, are still too common in his game. However, he started his campaign off well with an assured win over Marco Cecchinato on Wednesday and that is form enough to come through here. The 25-year-old has two titles on clay to his name already and is realistically Novak Djokovic’s only concern at this tournament. It took three sets to beat Krajinovic two years ago but take the Italian to seal this quarter-final in two.
