THE PREDICTION

World number 57 Laslo Djere was able to double down on an excellent quarter-final win over Lorenzo Musetti by totally dismissing Nikoloz Basilashvili in the semi-finals on Saturday. 25-year-old Djere conceded just two games against the Georgian and looks on his way back to his imperious best on this surface, though home favourite Lorenzo Sonego will be a tough opponent to face for a third time. World number 34 Sonego was able to weather a fight-back from Taylor Fritz in the semi-final on Saturday to win the deciding set and he was the victor when he met Djere on clay at the Morocco Open in 2019, with Djere winning on a hard court at last season’s Qatar Open. Both players are exciting to watch and this should be a fiery battle full of pace at both ends of the court. Sonego is the better player overall and yet Laslo Djere has looked in good form this week and has two clay-court ATP titles to his name already, including last year’s Sardinia Open. Take the Serb’s experience to win this match outright as the very slight underdog.
