World number seven Aryna Sabalenka is in excellent form this season and started off 2021 with a WTA 500 tournament win at the Abu Dhabi Open in which she dropped just one set over six matches. The Belarusian looks in similar form in Stuttgart after confident victories over Shuai Zhang and Anna-Lena Friedsam and the 22-year-old looks a potential candidate for the title this week if she continues as such. She will take on Sofia Kenin’s vanquisher Anett Kontaveit after she bagged her best win of the year over the third seed but Sabalenka holds a 100% win rate over the Estonian with three wins from three, including earlier this year in Dubai. The likeliest outcome here is for Sabalenka to take this in two challenging sets but it would be simpler to take her to win this quarter-final outright after Kontaveit’s efforts this week.
