THE PREDICTION

World number 13 Roberto Bautista Agut made short work of Gregoire Barrere in the round of 16 at the Open Sud de France having received a bye as the first seed here in Montpellier. The 32-year-old usually starts off a new season well but by his standards a now 2-3 record for the season so far is a poor showing. He faces another Frenchman now in rising star Ugo Humbert, who fought back from a set down to beat a spirited Tallon Griekspoor in the round of 16 after a comfortable win over Norbert Gombos in the first round. Home advantage will be dampened for Humbert with no spectators but there is still plenty of opportunity in this match for the talented left-hander. With no previous meetings this looks to be a result that could go either way, given that Bautista Agut is not at his best yet in 2021, and Humbert can often negotiate a win via a decider as he is well capable of playing the waiting game. Humbert to win this in three sets looks the likeliest way this falls but you could be forgiven for taking just three sets here and leaving the winner up to chance.
