THE PREDICTION

World number five Stefanos Tsitsipas made short work of a returning Lucas Pouille in the Open 13 round of 16 to get the double defence of his back-to-back titles here underway. The Greek star won here in 2019 and 2020 just before the suspension of the tennis season and he will be determined to make a statement run to the title to kick off his season once again. He faces another Frenchman in Pierre-Hugues Herbert, who has put out two in-form players via straight sets in Kei Nishikori, the sixth seed here, and Cameron Norrie in the round of 16 and will be a positive force to break down. The two have not played since 2018, where a 20-year-old Tsitsipas lost in straight sets to Herbert in China but things have drastically changed since then. Tsitsipas is becoming an incredibly difficult player to break on serve and the likelihood of this ending as a straight-sets victory for the Greek to level their personal record is high here indeed.
