THE PREDICTION

World number 138 Arthur Rinderknech has come through the qualifiers here in Marseille to play in his first ever ATP event, reaching the quarter-finals with two very impressive three-set victories over Mikhail Kukushkin and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. He faces the fourth seed Ugo Humbert in what should be one test too far but 25-year-old Rinderknech will play with nothing to lose and this could go to a deciding set if he catches the younger Frenchman off guard. 22-year-old Humbert is a two-time ATP title winner already and looked good in his straight-sets victory over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Wednesday. He will be targeting a final at the Open 13 Provence and is a dark horse for this tournament. Patient beyond his years, Humbert should be able to weather any storms Rinderknech provides to win this in straight sets.
