THE PREDICTION

World number 87 Federico Delbonis played very well to oust Adrian Mannarino in straight sets on Tuesday but has drawn the short straw here with a fifth meeting with Rafael Nadal, having lost the last four without taking a set off the Spaniard. World number three Nadal has an excellent opportunity in this tournament to return to second in the world with the news that Daniil Medvedev has contracted coivid-19 and he will be sure to use it. The 34-year-old has won just under a third of his total Masters titles (35) here at Monte-Carlo, with 11 trophies to his name and given that Medvedev and Dominic Thiem are not present and Novak Djokovic could be a little rusty this week, he has a strong chance of making that 12. Nadal should be wining this opening match in comfortable straight sets. You could opt for the Spaniard to concede less than seven games here for a little more value.
