THE PREDICTION
11th seed David Goffin handed Marin Cilic a 6-0 bagel in the deciding set of their first round match at the Monte-Carlo Masters on Sunday and continued in that form with a straight-sets dismissal of Marco Cecchinato. The 30-year-old won his fifth career title earlier this year at the Open Sud de France but his form has been fairly inconsistent for the past eight months or so and he is something of an unknown entity in this match-up. The Belgian faces Alexander Zverev for a fourth time and won their last encounter on grass at Halle in 2019, though the world number six leads their head-to-head record 2-1. 23-year-old Zverev overcame a strong assault from Lorenzo Sonego on Wednesday to come through in straight sets and both of his previous wins over Goffin have come on clay so this looks like a third win for the German. Goffin, though, should be able to force a deciding set as all three of their previous matches have gone to a third, so take Zverev to win in three here.
