Jeremy Chardy is on a three-match losing streak stretching back to a quarter-final defeat by Denis Shapovalov at the Dubai Open last month and he lost in the Men’s Doubles first round alongside Fabrice Martin here in Monte-Carlo on Sunday. Meanwhile, Alexander Bublik has been playing some incredible stuff in short spells, often peaking and troughing within matches in recent weeks. The 23-year-old made the quarter-finals of the Miami Open less than two weeks ago before a high-quality loss to Jannik Sinner and he has made two ATP finals this year already. Bublik reached the first of those two finals via a three-set win over Jeremy Chardy at the Antalya Open back in January and since then both players have gone on to play some of their best tennis. However, Chardy’s form has dipped ever so slightly in recent months from the world-beater he was becoming and Bublik’s recent performances look like beating the Frenchman in three sets again here.
