THE PREDICTION
Since losing to John Isner for second time at the Miami Open, 20-year-old Felix Auger-Aliassime has linked up with Toni Nadal, legendary uncle of Rafael, to coach him through the clay court season in a very interesting move. The Canadian has played more ATP finals than his opponent Cristian Garin but has so far nothing to show for it as a seven-time runner-up on tour, including earlier this season at the Murray River Open. Garin has played one final fewer and won five titles, all on clay, so this is truly a phenomenal test for Auger-Aliassime. Garin win his native Chile Open on clay just last month and should be considered a dark horse for the title here if he plays to his best. The pair have one win apiece, both on clay in 2019 in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, but 24-year-old Garin should have too much for Auger-Aliassime right now. Training with Toni Nadal should come to fruition soon, but for now take Garin to win this first round encounter.
