THE PREDICTION
21-year-old Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is very much part of a new wave of Spanish talent but he has been fairly inconsistent over the last few months and a round of 16 loss to Ilya Ivashka last week at the Andalucia Open was a poor showing. He takes on 22-year-old Alex de Minaur for the first time since losing to the Australian in the 2019 Next Gen ATP Finals, although De Minaur enters the Monte-Carlo Masters on a poor run that makes this match interesting. De Minaur won the Antalya Open at the start of the year but his performance shave fallen away a little since then and if Alexander Bublik had not been forced to retire from that final it could have been a different story. Nevertheless, Davidovich Fokina is also not sparkling and that should see renowned speedster De Minaur win both the first set and the match on Monday.
