World number 96 Mikael Ymer came through his first Miami Open match comfortably against Alejandro Tabilo and will face the 27th
seed Nikoloz Basilashvili for a first time in their careers. 29-year-old Basilashvili won his fourth ATP title from absolutely nowhere at last month’s Qatar Open after putting out the returning Roger Federer in the quarter-final but he lost his last match in the first round of the Dubai Open last week. The Georgian was in the lowest of ebbs before his time in Qatar and he should be a much tougher prospect in 2021, though this looks like a really tough result to call if Ymer is at his best. Matches involving Basilashvili are totally unpredictable right now but the realistic line is that the world number 38 can come through here in straight sets. However, three sets would not be a surprise and that could make taking him as outright winner a more sensible option.
