World number nine Diego Schwartzman recently won his native Argentina Open for the first time but suffered a title hangover at last week’s Mexican Open as he lost to Italian rising star Lorenzo Musetti in the first round in Acapulco. The 28-year-old is still sometimes an upset waiting to happen but he should have more than enough to beat his next opponent Yasutaka Uchiyama in their first meeting. World number 110 Uchiyama did well to beat Salvatore Caruso in the first round over two comfortable sets but he has not been rewarded with a kind fixture in the fifth seed. Schwartzman can sometimes be a frustrating player in matches he should win comfortably but a significant rest from last week’s first round exit should provide enough time for a decent refresh.
