THE PREDICTION

World number 34 has looked confident throughout his first two Miami Open matches, coming through both against Bjorn Fratangelo and an in-form Daniel Elahi Galan in straight sets to reach the round of 16. Here the Italian will face the second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas for the first time and this match promises to be something special between two big-game players. 22-year-old Tsitsipas played out a really enjoyable three-set encounter with a resurgent Kei Nishikori late on Monday night and with his first true test in Miami out of the way should be all the more tuned in for this clash. Sonego has a secret extra gear we all saw come out last Autumn when he made the Vienna Open finals via a dismantling of world number one Novak Djokovic but we rarely get to see it. Tsitsipas, on the other hand, is almost always working at his maximum effort and that, plus his ever-improving service holds, should see the Greek come through this in straight sets.
