World number 28 John Isner rolled back the years with a straight-sets victory over 20-year-old Felix Auger-Aliassime, two years after he first beat the Canadian youngster in the semi-finals here. 35-year-old Isner won the Miami Open the year previous and clearly has a real affinity for the tournament having made back-to-back finals here, losing to Roger Federer in the last edition in 2019. World number 12 Roberto Bautista Agut is on the wrong end of a 3-1 head-to-head record with Isner and last lost to the American in the quarter-finals here, the round before Auger-Aliassime. 32-year-old RBA came back from a set down against Jan-Lennard Struff in the third round on Sunday in his first match here after a second-round walkover, and the Spaniard should still be the favourite to win what should be a classic. However, momentum and Miami just seem to click with John Isner and now there is a sense of inevitability about this encounter.
