THE PREDICTION
This is a really interesting match-up between rising star Sebastian Korda, just 20 years old, and consummate professional Radu Albot as they meet for the first time. The limited crowds in Miami are sure to give Florida-born Korda a real lift and his form has been pretty great already this year with impressive wins over fellow Americans John Isner, Tommy Paul and veteran players such as Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Marin Cilic. The world number 87 reached his first ATP final at the start of the year, losing to Hubert Hurkacz at Florida’s own Delray Beach Open and that looks a good benchmark for a decent run at the Miami Open. In his way is world number 77 Albot, who actually won his only ATP title so far at Delray Beach back in 2019. The Moldovan has had some success this season, reaching the semi-finals of the Singapore Open last month as well as making the third round of the Australian Open but he is yet to hit his heights this year having ended 2020 in good form. Albot can almost always force a deciding set through sheer will and so taking this match to go to three and leaving the result up to chance looks a good option here. However, young Korda should enjoy the occasion more and edges this match-up at this time.
