THE PREDICTION
World number 71 Dominik Koepfer is proving his quality in Acapulco as a player who could realistically break the top 50 fairly easily with a decent run and he beat Cameron Norrie in straight-sets to keep his perfect record through to the semi-finals. He will face fellow German Alexander Zverev in the last four but has not been rewarded at all for his troubles after the world number seven took an unexpected rest day due to Casper Ruud pulling out of the tournament. Zverev has lost in the final of the Mexican Open before and looks well likely to get a second go here against Koepfer. Both Germans will make for a robust, baseline-based battle that may not be the greatest spectacle but Zverev’s quality should tell throughout in a straight-sets victory.
