An all-American showdown here should be an exciting first meeting between seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams and recent Australian Open finalist Jennifer Brady. 40-year-old Williams ha snot yet played a tour-level clay match this season but neither has her 26-year-old opponent, Brady, who has struggled on this surface in recent years. Brady has not won a match on clay since the first round of Roland-Garros in 2019 and this could be a slightly rusty start to the swing for both players. Williams will be competitive early-on in this match but world number 14 Brady should find a way through to the second round. A lack of practice on this surface could make the first set a bit of a scrap so take Brady to win outright here and leave sets out of it.
