THE PREDICTION
It seems that no matter how hard he tries, Marton Fucsovics cannot escape the world number eight Andrey Rublev. Having played out a tough final at the Rotterdam Open earlier this month, losing to the Russian in straight sets, Fucsovics was forced to pull out of their second fixture due in the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open last week. One week on, the Hungarian will face the 23-year-old for a fourth time overall and for the second time in March 2021, with that straight-sets final a good marker for what should take place here. World number 44 Fucsovics looks to be nearing some of his best form after eye-catching wins over the likes of Borna Coric, Stan Wawrinka and this week Pablo Carreno Busta this season so far but world number eight Rublev is a cut above that quality right now. The second seed here in Dubai is yet to drop set in wins over Emil Ruusuvuori and in-form Taylor Fritz and his record at the ATP 250 and 500 events is staggering. 29-year-old Fucsovics deserves a set from this but Rublev is well capable of taking this in two.
