THE PREDICTION

South African qualifier Lloyd Harris continued his excellent Dubai Open on Wednesday with a fairly comfortable straight-sets defeat of 14th seed Filip Krajinovic. The 24-year-old reaches the quarter-finals via a stunning straight-sets win over the first seed Dominic Thiem in the round before on Tuesday and will be a real test of former world number four Kei Nishikori’s continued return. The Japanese star took out the fifth seed David Goffin in the round of 16 in impressive straight-sets as he bids to return to the top 10 and this will be a fascinating match that could go either way. World number 81 Harris is certainly better than his current ATP ranking due to a reduced points system and could be in for a bright year in 2021. The way he beat Thiem suggests he can beat Nishikori here, though it might be safer to pick this to go to three sets.
