Chile Open’s first seed Cristian Garin looks set for a first title in his native Santiago if he continues in his current form. The world number 22 is yet to drop a set this week but will face his sternest test yet in 24-year-old Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan after the world number 121 beat his second higher-ranked Spaniard this week in Roberto Carballes Baena. Galan has come through three tough opponents in Carballes Baena, Pablo Andujar and Daniel Altmaier and should be battle-hardened here having played and won three tight tiebreaks. The temptation is to hand Galan a set in this first meeting between the two South Americans but it is more likely that four-time ATP title winner Cristian Garin can continue his surge to the final in straight sets. Add a tiebreak in this match for a slightly riskier one-off.
